The younger sister of the Princess of Asturias, Erika Ortiz Rocasolano, has died. She was just 31. She worked as an interior and graphic designer for the Globomedia company, and leaves a six year old daughter, Carla. Erika Ortiz recently appeared in the gossip press following the separation from the sculptor Antonio Vigo, who was the father of her child.She is reported to have been at work last Friday and to have requested a couple of days off work before starting ‘a new project’ with Globomedia. Work colleagues have said that she was not ill, but was suffering greatly following the break up of her relationship. She died at home in Valdebernardo in Madrid, her body was found by her current boyfriend.National police have not been at the scene, but police forensic scientists have been in attendance.The Ortiz Rocasolano family have asked for ‘respect and discretion’.The Spanish King and Queen, who were both travelling, are reported to be very upset by the news. The King was in Berlin while the Queen was told while visiting Indonesia. Queen Sofia is reported to have broken down in tears, and decided to return immediately to Madrid. Both of them are back in Madrid this morning, and the King has thanked the many people who have offered their condolences.The unexpected death of Erika Ortiz, the younger sister of the Princess of Asturias has brought many tributes from political leaders and others. An autopsy will now be carried out.

Despite wishes expressed by the family for the outcome of the autopsy to be kept secret, the Spanish press is now carrying the details on the death of Érika Ortiz, the Princess of Asturias' younger sister.Sources close to the investigation are quoted by the El Mundo website that as well as several empty pill bottles found in her home, there were several hand written notes left for her family. It’s now thought that her body had been there for more than 12 hours before being discovered by her boyfriend on Wednesday lunchtime. The autopsy puts time of death at 11pm on Tuesday night. The full toxicology results will not be available for another fortnight, and only then will the final autopsy report be ready for signing, and be handed over to both the judge and the family.
